Mikage.nu was registered on the 16th of January 2010 via Namecheap.com. The pre-registration process saw me eagerly participate in Namecheap's giveaway contest in hope of accumulating enough domain credits to go towards a .nu purchase, considering their hefty price in comparison to standard TLDs.
My motivation behind purchasing a .nu came from their rise in popularity through many web designing peers I admire, i.e: Georgie; Kya; Hannah; and Annie. My motivation was not based on such alone, though. Like them I, too, found myself attracted to the .nu extension, hence my final resolve to actually buy one. I chose to name my .nu after one of my favourite fictional characters, Mikage. You can find him in the manga (and anime adaptation) 07 Ghost.
I would like to thank all of the above designers for inspiring me, Namecheap for being a great domain registrar, Bubble for being a brilliant host, and Google webfonts for supplying gorgeous, usable font-faces. ♥
